For Valentines Day, Ivan and Terry put together a nice gift basket for all of us. But Magnus got the best present. It’s a butterfly in a jar and when you tap the glass the butterfly flies around. George Michael likes to watch it.

Happy Valentines Day!
Don’t worry, it’s not our car, but that is our parking lot. Early this morning (around 2 am) a drunk driver crashed his car into the cherry tree on the edge of our parking lot. Miraculously no one was hurt, but the tree (and the car) are done for. Dana heard the sirens and went out to see what happened. After the tow truck moved the car (the driver had wiggled out already), Dana convinced him to tip the tree the other way so we could get out of the driveway. Thanks, tow-truck man!

Happy early Valentines day to us! Dana and I went out for our Valentines date tonight while Elina and Else watched Magnus. We also exchanged gifts today because we like giving present so much we can’t wait to give them to the other person. Dana got me some nice jewelry from a local rock shop and I got Dana the Lego Rancor pit. The Rancor wishes you all a happy night!

We had some friends in the ward over for dinner tonight and they came bearing gifts! They had offered us this rocking horse months before, but we had never gotten the hand-off completed. So they brought it tonight. Magnus warmed up to it right away. He insisted he needed the Viking helmet on to ride and now he doesn’t ride without it.

Magnus is a break-dancer. But we already knew that. Here he is showing off his moves.
Tonight Magnus decided to start singing, “ E I E I O,” that line from “Old McDonald had a farm.” In Magnus fashion, he does not let us stop singing the song. So we have had to expand Old McDonald’s world. Now he has a house and a zoo with all kinds of noisy inhabitants.

Calli brought her dogs over to Farmor’s house while we ladies went to “Super Saturday.” Magnus loves to run around with the dogs and they love to smell him and chase things that he throws.

Magnus is getting to be better friends with bedtime. Now bedtime consists of 2-3 stories, a song, and prayer. Then he climbs into his bed and gets his “Nemo” blanket and a stuffed animal. Also, he’s been a bit cough-y lately, so we bring a cup of water to bed too. I still have to sit by the bed till he’s out, but we’re moving in the right direction!

Happy Birthday, Terry!
We all got together in Salem tonight for Terry’s birthday. It was fun to see everyone and eat yummy food. Magnus blew out Terry’s candle before she could get to it, so we had to stage a re-do and they blew it out together.

I had to go to the dollar store to get some things for mutual this week. During our trip Magnus found these accent marbles. They are his favorite. I figured I would buy his happiness for a dollar, so we brought them home. We call them his treasure and we find them all over the apartment now. Simple pleasures.

Traditional Belgian waffles! We have a man from Belgium in our ward who is a very good cook. I happened to get one of his waffles while visiting his home several months ago. I got some of the special lump sugar to make them with for Christmas and finally got around to making them on Else’s Belgian waffle maker.
They were delicious with homemade raspberry jam.

I am not a fast reader. I started this last August. And I finished it today, just in time for my Relief Society’s book club this Thursday. I think I may be the only person reading it, but I’m OK with that; I feel pretty accomplished. Thank you, free books on the Kindle!

Anton, Callie, and Ivan came over for dinner tonight. Callie made some yummy fish tacos. She also brought some fury friends for Magnus to visit with. The dogs were pretty indifferent to Magnus, but he didn’t mind. After dinner we walked over to the park to play some glow-in-the-dark ball. We put a headlamp on Magnus and let him wander around after the dogs. It was fun times.

We have had this pet beetle since we lived in Utah. He finally passed away this last week and we had to retire the beetle cage. R.I.P., ground beetle!

Ruth got a meat grinder attachment for her Kitchen-aid for Christmas. We used it today and made 50/50 burgers. They are half ground beef and half ground bacon. They were very good. Magnus even liked it!

Ruth went out to run some errands this morning. Magnus entertained himself by playing with these two minifigures almost the whole time. The Knight is his especial favorite; he has gotten very good at taking off his face plate and putting it back on.

Moving day. We helped the office move today. Dana hauled some desks (and cubes). Magnus and Ruth cleaned some offices and inspected the empty truck. Magnus enjoyed the acoustics of the empty truck.

Magnus has been liking to play with the little Lego Superman Dana has and requesting to watch the Superman TV show. So Dana taught Magnus to fly around the apartment like Superman.

Prestige Mortgage is moving! They have been in this office nine years and finally have to move locations. We helped start the packing process today.

The small Lego presents were a Christmas decoration that Elina made. Magnus especially liked them and took all the presents and hid them in various toy receptacles. We found all but these two before putting the decorations away. These ones turned up tonight when Magnus wanted to play with his toy food. Merry Christmas!
