Between Conference sessions we went down to the Old Apple Tree Festival at Fort Vancouver. The Old Apple Tree is one of the first apple trees in Washington. Today the were having cider tastings among other things. We had a good time and a nice walk.

Playing in his crib is something that Gideon enjoys sometimes, if you play with him. It can involve a lot of laughing and grunting. I think he is doing both here.

Magnus will often introduce himself as various characters or animals or whatnots, whatever he is feeling like. A new one is that he is a transformer named Perceptor that can be a helicopter, an airplane, and a line. After we questioned the third form he acted each change out, and the last one he was a straight line. This is his demonstration. The best is how each transformation comes with the cool sounds.

I have a blanket I have been wanting to cover for a while. Mom sent me some homeless fabric (thanks, Mom!) and I inherited some from a friend and I finally have enough to make a quilt top with! Here I am cutting out strips after the babies have gone to bed.

Gideon is having more opinions about what he eats and how it gets in his mouth. Luckily, he is also getting better at feeding himself. He likes alternating between putting things in his mouth and flinging them onto the floor. Here are some carrots and noodles. He ate most of these.

After watching this video several times in a row, Magnus has decided Godzilla is a hero. We have this small Godzilla figurine that he spoke for (in his Godzilla voice) for a long time.

For mutual tonight we had some unity building activities with the girls. They had their hands all tied together in a circle and we gave them clay and they had to make a flower. this was the garden we ended up with.

Dana continued his forest adventure visiting two more lakes and 10 more waterfalls. But the bigger news was that after eating dinner at home, Gideon started walking. He did several good strolls. We were very proud of him, and he was very pleased with himself.

Happy Hobbit Day!

IMG_2836

Dana started his two day trek through the woods in search of elusive waterfalls. The big prize today was Walupt Creek Falls: 221 feet tall, 267 feet across, and a run of over 400 feet (Dana is the small person in the middle). This is an awesome sight, even at low water like this. And there is no trail to it, so you have to bushwack to get there, but it was worth it. He also visited Chambers Creek Falls, Walupt Lake, and the two upper waterfalls on Walupt Creek.

Dana found a frog in our plant outside, so we had fun playing with him for awhile. Everybody took turns holding it before we let it go. A few days latter we found frog eggs in one of our flower pots.

Ruth and Gideon helped drive the church youth to Sunset Beach in Oregon for a fun day in the sand, Dana got to work, and Magnus spent most of the weekend at Farmor’s house binging on Legos and videos.

Gideon has become a pro-cruiser going from floor to furniture with ease. He zips around the house quite quickly. Especially to the bathroom to unroll the toilet paper.

We had a great idea to make pizza burgers. The patty was beef with some pizza herbs in it. And on top we added some pizza sauce, roasted mozzarella, peppers, and peperoni. They were delicious.

From camp we headed for the mountains and Mt. St. Helens. Our fist stop was Meta Lake, an area that escaped some of the destruction in 1980 because of how it is situated. The lake is neat because now it is teaming with life. We found hundreds of dime sized baby frogs that had recently emerged from being tadpoles. We then went to Windy Ridge and climbed the 368 steps to the top to marvel at the views. After a quick stop at  Iron Creek Falls, we were back at camp. Anton met us and when it was late we headed to an open hill top with lots of other people hoping to glimpse the Northern Lights (which never showed), but we did see lots of stars.

While Mom was at Mutual, we took a walk. The play ground we went to first had a large wasp nest under it now, so we went to the high school track instead. Magnus even jogged two laps and Gideon rode that same distance. It was a good evening.

Bingen, WA, a small town in the Gorge, held their annual Huckleberry Festival today. The main thing it is famous for is the pie, which was awesome. There was a small parade and lots of other good food as well. Our friend, Brian, even met us out there. After we stuffed ourselves, we headed up into the hills behind Bingen and got to a place with a very nice view of the Gorge and Mt. Hood.
