We went to the tulip festival in Woodland today. Magnus helped choose some tulips to bring to Farmor. All the flowers were beautiful.

Dana taught Magnus the art of banana-phone conversation today. Magnus also figured out how to turn the banana into a gun (he can turn just about anything into a gun).

Magnus is ready to go holding his keys and his “man purse.” I don’t know what could be more manly than a space shuttle bag.

We learned today that Magnus will do everything you tell him if you instruct him through the walkie-talkies.
While I was at mutual tonight Dana and Magnus drove up to Woodland with Ivan to see his lot up on the hill.

Examining Dana’s teeth. We saw Jurassic Park 3D, it was great. It is one of Dana’s favorites.

Happy Birthday, Grant and Grant-pa!
Sunday we went to Farmor’s house to watch conference. Anton bought this cool barn and windmill Lego set that Magnus decided was the best.

Magnus the tyrant has been demanding letters be written for him. He can say a few of them but we’re still working on matching the sounds to the right letters.
Friday, April 5th, 2013
We got Magnus a booster seat to use at the table because he has been boycotting the high chair. Magnus can climb into it and out of it by himself.

Happy Birthday, Emily!
Cheryl’s last day in Vancouver. We had a great time having her visit and we were glad she came. We will miss you, Cheryl.

We took Cheryl on a hike today up Eagle Creek. We just stopped at Punchbowl Falls, but that was enough hike for all of us. The water was very cold, but we all walked out to see the waterfall (except Magnus).

We took the afternoon to show Cheryl some of the Gorge today. Elina came with us and we made sure to stop at Multnomah.

Merry Christmas!
Haha, gottcha! April Fools!
After Dana got home from work we all went down to the temple. Since it was Monday and the temple was closed it was not busy. Cheryl enjoyed taking pictures of Magnus playing in the fountain and we all had fun in the Visitor’s Center.

Happy Easter!
We were too tired to dye eggs yesterday, so we did it this morning before church. Magnus liked picking the colors for the eggs to be.
He had a good time opening his Easter basket. He would pick up the plastic eggs and open them and exclaim, “candy!” And then when there was another egg with candy in it, “more!” The Easter bunny also gave him his own Lego minifigure, a knight, to which he exclaimed, “Knight! Sword!”
Dana also set up an Easter egg hunt for him, hiding the boiled eggs around the living room. Magnus needed a lot of prompting, but eventually got a hang of the game.
After church we drove down to Salem where Ivan fed us a delicious Easter dinner. It was good times. Thanks, everybody!

We went to a concert in Portland today. There were 10 grand pianos on stage and high schoolers from all over the area were invited to come and perform. They played a few pieces all together, but mostly it was duets and solos. All the proceeds from the concert went to fund music in public schools. So hooray for that!
On our way home we saw this guy getting ready to cross the street. It is a bagpiper wearing a kilt and a Mario hat, riding a unicycle. Some thought this was more impressive than the piano concert.

A full day in Seattle took us to the Seattle Center, the waterfront, Pike Pace, and the ship locks. We had fun showing Cheryl around and we had great weather to do it in. More about our day here.

“A bike in a tree? What’s up with that?”
We drove up to Seattle by way of Vashon Island to see this bike grown into a tree. It was pretty weird. That night we met up with my friend Cheryl and explored the city a little bit.

Some of our Ukrainian Easter decorations and some pretty rocks from the rock show.
Sunday, March 24th, 2013
Pajama time took a little longer to finish, because the first pair we put Magnus in had buttons(the brown one). Magnus decided it was a night for zippers (“zip!” with hand motions), and he was very adamant. He was even helpful switching over to a zipper pair.

Back at the rock show. Magnus loved the “wheel!” so much that he kept asking for it all night. He even dragged Ruth out to where our car is parked wanting to go see it. So, we promised he could see it again today. When we got to the venue he ran straight for the model and excitedly pointed it out to other people. This time we took a video, in case of future wheel wants.

We enjoyed perusing tables at a local Rock and Gem show that a friend from work invited us to. Dana’s sister Elina is a big fan of rocks, so she came with us. Admission was free and every child got a free rock. In fact, by the time we left Magnus had a little pile of rocks from several of the vendors that thought he was cute. A big hit was a model of a grist mill, complete with working water wheel, that was made out of petrified wood, so it looked like it was made of real wood. Magnus kept asking for “wheel! wheel!” He loved to see it spin.
