Happy 0th Birthday, Gideon Orion!
It was almost noon when we were at the hospital again. But it took almost 7 more hours till the baby was born. But when it was finally time he came out in about 2 minutes.
Gideon Orion Jensen was born at 6:38 PM on 11/27/13. He weighed 9 lb. 13 oz. and was 20 and 3/4 inches long. His head was 13 and 3/4 inches around. Both he and Mommy are doing very well.

Today is the baby’s due date. More contractions were felt today, and around 8 pm we went to the hospital. After a bit they told us Ruth was not far enough along, so we went home. But we knew it would be soon…

We took a Sunday morning drive through the Gorge and it was quite windy on Crown Point. Dana got Magnus out of the car for just a minute before he wanted to get back in the car. He said, “I don’t want to fly away.” Can’t blame him for that.

Dana and Magnus played a game where one would leap off the couch toward the other. It really only worked one way though.

Magnus built this “gun” today out of legos. It came with a box you could “plug in” so it would work, and not be out of batteries. He played with it all day and then dismantled it when Dana got home from work.

We cleaned the turtle tank today and Magnus got to have some quality time with him. He gets impatient when George Michael doesn’t scoot around the floor fast enough.

We talked to my mom on the phone tonight. While we visited Magnus decided she needed some stickers. So he put them on the phone for her.

Magnus stood on this plastic bag and told us he was the Statue of Liberty. Then he needed a torch and a book, so we had to improvise.

Dana was planning to go on a hike in the Gorge today by himself, but Ruth and Magnus decided to come along. While Dana did the longer side trail to see a second waterfall, Ruth and Magnus rested then made their way to the bigger falls. It is almost a 2 mile hike round trip to Elowah Falls, but both Magnus and pregnant Ruth made it in and out. They did very well. Magnus had fun throwing rocks in the river while Dana took pictures and Ruth rested.

Happy Birthday, Steen!
Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you to everyone who is served or is serving now.
Ruth found a dragon fruit at Winco and bought it for Dana, who loves to try new fruits. It was ready to eat today and it was very good. It is almost like a non-tart kiwi. Plus it is a really pretty fruit.

The Capitol Christmas Tree came from Colville National Forest in Washington this year. It stopped on Saturday in Vancouver and we drove over to visit it. Smokey the Bear was also there (and was less scary than Santa Claus) and Magnus wanted to get his picture with him.

We went and saw the new Thor movie (we figured we have to fit in some theater time before the new baby comes and makes it hard to go out). It was great! We liked it better than the first one.

Dana broke out his Micro Machine space ship collection for Magnus to play with. They have been much loved and discussed and we had to watch a few Star Wars movies that had some of the ships in them to see them in action.

For naptime today, Dana showed Magnus how to sleep with his stuffed animals. He has insisted on this sleeping arrangement ever since.

Dana got some chanterelle mushrooms from the farmers market and made them into some delicious cream of mushroom soup thanks to Fannie Farmer. I was a little hesitant about not-button-mushroom-soup, but it was super good! Dana is really good at making soup and this was no exception.

Some nice ladies from my ward threw me a baby shower today. We got some really cute warm clothes for the new baby. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival!

Today was a busy day for us. During the day we had a garage sale at Else’s. That night, Magnus went down to Salem and had a sleep over with Grandpa Ivan and Grandma Terry. Ruth and Dana went to see Ender’s Game (which we enjoyed). I asked Dana to take a belly picture of me and he was careful to get my shadow in the background. As I write this, he is singing the Alfred Hitchcock Presents music. One day I may forgive him for that.

Happy Halloween!
Magnus dressed up as a crocodile this year. After we brought the costume home I realized he strongly resembled his costume from two years ago. Maybe we’ll branch out next year…

Dana was asking whether Chinese restaurants actually give you food in these little take-out container… which made me hungry for Chinese food. So we stopped at the Good Taste Restaurant (in proximity to where we buy our fresh fish and crabs) and got some delicious food. And the rice did come in the take-out box.

Ivan and Terry hosted a pizza party at their house again this year where we all got to make our own pizzas! They were delicious and we had a great time visiting and eating yummy food. Our friend Brian came out too and brought us fresh apple juice that he had made. It was from honeycrisp and fuji apples and it was really good.

Pumpkin patch! The pumpkin patch was very crowded, but we had a nice time riding the tractor out to the field to get our pumpkins. They had various tractors set up around the farm that Magnus liked to sit on, and he especially liked sitting in the fire truck.
