Fort Vancouver held a special exhibit focused on history of the written word at the Fort. They had several original letters from the McLoughlin family dating from the 1800’s. The question asked was: what would you write home if you could only send one letter a year? This letter from 1832 was written using “cross writing” to help save on paper. There were also lots of old postcards of Vancouver and we got to try out an old fashioned pen with the ink jar.
