We took the weekend to head up to Cheney to see Will and his family. On the way we made some stops so Magnus could work out some wiggles. Here he is on the bank of the Columbia in Kennewick looking at the Pioneer Memorial Bridge. We even got to see a long-tail weasel on the shore of the river.

First Day of Spring!

We gave Magnus a little bit of bread to try today. He liked the crust pretty well, but dropped the rest of it on the floor in pieces. He may have been making a trail to follow later…

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

We watched the movie Rio today. At the end of the movie there is a big music number. This is the moment Magnus jumped up and started dancing. He liked dancing before, but this is now probably his favorite dance song. Play it and he will start grooving (we will post a video soon). The more he dances the more moves he comes up with.

For dinner, we were invited to another ward member’s house whose father is Irish. They fed us corned beef and cabbage. We really liked it and had a good evening.

Happy Pi Day!

We went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium today with my good friend, Brian. The weather was a bit drippy, so we thought the aquarium would be a good place to go. It was a lot of fun to see all the neat animals. Ruth enjoyed the puffins. Magnus loved the touch pool. And I really liked the underwater tunnel you can walk through.

We also made sure to get a banana cream pie milkshake from Artic Circle to celebrate the day.

Dana has discovered tamarind flavored things. And he likes them. Today at Wal-Mart I found Mexican popsicles in all kinds of fun flavors, including tamarind. Magnus begged for a taste and Dana gave it to him. He wasn’t sure at first, but soon he was begging like this, so we think he liked it…

Magnus and I drove with Dana to work and then rode the bus home. He was very well behaved and didn’t even try to request our stop prematurely. Hooray for public transit!

Happy Birthday, Scott!

Else bought me some nice daffodil buds and told me they would bloom soon. She was right! This morning this is what they looked like. They smell wonderful, like spring. Thanks, Else!

We must be doing something right; we had three warm(ish), sunny days in a row! This time we went to a park by our house. Dana found Magnus a stick and they had fun hitting the playground equipment with it. Magnus was having such a good time he didn’t even care when a little girl threw bark chips in his face. (In her defense she thought she was playing with the baby.)

We are looking forward to more warm days. Smile

Happy Women’s Day!

Another warm day! Two in a row! We went back to the park and Magnus did a little better at the walking around bit of playing in the park. His favorite thing about the park was this tube that had excellent acoustics.

Hooray for warm weather! We took the opportunity to go to the park today. Dana and Magnus played on the playground and I went rollerblading.

This was Magnus’s first real experience with shoes outdoors. Mostly he just stood with his feet stuck to the ground (they were too heavy?). And when he fell over, he would crawl with dead legs to the asphalt.

Here he is actually walking on the bark chips at the end of the visit.

Dana has been working night shifts for the past few weeks. When he’s gone at dinner time I have a tendency not to cook. Tonight I got up my courage and tried a new recipe for green risotto (coming soon to the food blog) I’d been meaning to try.

I must have been a little flustered during the prep time because it wasn’t until I was putting the peas away that I realized they had already been opened.
