The Transit of Venus is an interesting event where Venus passes in between the Sun and Earth. It is a rare astronomical event that happens in pairs 8 years apart (the last one was in June 2004) separated by over 100 years (the next pair starts in December 2117). We went to the local college to witness this event. This is picture is of a reflection of the sun magnified through a telescope. The dot on the top right is Venus. If you make the photo larger you can see two smaller dots near the middle, these are sun spots. It was neat to see and there was a good group there to see it. We are just glad the clouds cleared away long enough.
