The boys had some time to themselves tonight. Dana and Magnus built The Black Gate complete with the Mouth of Sauron and the King of the Eagles. Gideon helped by staying asleep.

My friend that is moving is getting rid of some of her baby stuff and gave us her Bumbo chair. So far, Magnus is more impressed with it than Gideon is.

I helped a friend of mine today by watching her kids while she packed. She’s my crafting buddy and I’m bummed that she’s moving away. Magnus is going to miss his buddies too.

This is one of Dana’s Legos. Magnus kind of loves it and asks us several times a day to roll it into a ball.

Happy President’s Day!
We let Gideon have some tummy time tonight, and Magnus thought he needed some company.
Sunday, February 16th, 2014
Happy Birthday, Ryan!
We headed down to Salem to celebrate Ryan’s birthday. He was a good sport and let Magnus help him blow out the candles.
Saturday, February 15th, 2014
We had a power outage tonight. Magnus and I got to break out the lantern, but the outage only lasted half an hour.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Dana’s Valentine’s Day present (compare to last year’s).
We had a nice night together thanks to Farmor for watching the boys. Dana and I went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which we loved! And then we ate Vietnamese food at a restaurant we found in Portland. It was a nice day.
Thursday, February 13th, 2014
Dana finished James and the Giant Peach today. He had never read it before.
Wednesday, February 12th, 2014
Happy Darwin Day!
Another step in the getting-Magnus-to-go-to-sleep-alone: stuffed animal cave.
Monday, February 10th, 2014
After seeing this comic, I wanted to make some dysfunctional valentines. Dana helped.
Sunday, February 9th, 2014
Another snow day. Church was cancelled so Magnus and I made heart cookies today. He enjoyed using the rolling pin and was good at using the cookie cutter as long as he had help getting it pointed the right way.
Saturday, February 8th, 2014
And more snow! Magnus and Dana got to make a snow man. We all ventured out on the roads (which were mostly slush) to see The Lego Movie! Everybody loved it!
Friday, February 7th, 2014
Happy Birthday, Terry!
More snow today. Magnus and Dana got to go down to the Fort to take some pictures. In the evening, we watched the Opening Ceremonies for the Sochi Olympics.

Snowpocalypse 2014!
The snow began this afternoon. It was quite dry and not good for snowballs.
We had to cancel our dinner appointment with the missionaries. We had made them piroshky (Russian hand pies) in honor of the Olympics, but we had to eat them ourselves.

We are working on getting Magnus to fall asleep by himself. It is a process. Tonight a flashlight was good enough to appease him while he fell asleep.
Sunday, February 2nd, 2014
Happy Groundhog Day! Phil saw his shadow, 6 more weeks of Winter.
Super Bowl XLVIII: Go Seahawks!
Anton had some people over to watch the Super Bowl. Most of the attendees were excited about the outcome. Magnus made sure to shout “Go Seahawks!” any time he could.

One of our family goals this year is to Carpe Diem! Dana has been wanting to go clamming with his friend Brian for a while. Tonight the stars aligned so that they could go out to the coast and get some clams. They headed out to Longbeach, WA and with Brian’s help Dana was able to catch his 15 razor clams. The weather was great and they had a good time. Magnus enjoyed seeing the clams they brought home wriggle around in the buckets.

Magnus likes to measure things. Most things are 44, regardless of length.
Thursday, January 30th, 2014
I had some Amazon money leftover from my birthday, so I bought this. I’ve been wanting some Charley Harper artwork and I wanted a puzzle – and this is both!
Wednesday, January 29th, 2014
Trying to photograph him smiling is tricky. But we still end up with some nice pictures.
Tuesday, January 28th, 2014
Magnus made some lightsabers out of markers tonight… or markers out of lightsabers… the story changes.
Saturday, January 25th, 2014
We went to the Ridgefield NWR today. There were many herons and swans among others.
Thursday, January 23rd, 2014
Something turned Magnus’s tongue blue. Magnus says, “it’s not blue anymore.”
Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014
This will sometimes appease Gideon (and Magnus) when they are in the throws of anger.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
Finally packing up our Christmas decorations. Do you recognize who these minifigures represent?
Friday, January 17th, 2014
Dana got to go hiking by himself today. The trail he wanted to go on was closed, due to a rock having damaged a bridge. Instead he went and found some virtually unknown gems, so obscure that the only way to get to them is park on the side of the freeway. This 1872 wagon road, the first road built through the Gorge, was really neat and entirely covered in moss. There were also moss covered sections of the original Columbia River Highway that have been abandoned. And he scrambled up a creek channel to find Summit Falls.
